Log of Power Outages

DateTimeDurationLocation
2008-05-05 7:48pm momentary 409 Concord Way
Comments: The usual. No wind. Beautiful evening. Power goes out momentarily then comes back on in about 15 seconds.

2008-05-05 7:48 pm 10 seconds or so Willborough Road
Comments: Weather was fine, not even windy. Even though it only lasted a few seconds, it still meant resetting all the clocks and alarms in the house.

2008-04-28 9:53pm momentary 409 Concord Way
Comments: Nothing, fortunately. I have my battery backup. Why doesn\'t PG&E give several to every homeowner, for free??

2008-04-22 9:38am momentary 409 Concord Way
Comments: two momentary power outages. A beautiful day. No apparent reason for this outage.

2008-04-22 9:10am 1 hour 774 Walnut Avenue
Comments:

2008-04-22 late morning? 1 hr. 15 mins 709 Walnut Ave.
Comments: Lost all my answering machine messages. Both my business & personal computers lost data.Had to call a computer person to re-set computers so I could use them. Wasted about 3 hrs. of my time because obviously PGE doesn\'t give a DAMN about us or their service.I am really angry about this!!

2008-02-14 7:15pm +1 hour 1400 block of Burlingame Avenue
Comments: Many businesses lost their power tonight. Sapore Italiano lost more than 300 reservations (including ours) on what should have been their busiest night. Il Forniao was out of power too! This is third world.

2008-02-14 7 2 hours 404 Howard Ave
Comments: Its crazy that we can have power during the recent storms yet on a lovely evening we lose power

2008-02-14 7:20 4 hours? 1210 Bellevue Ave
Comments: Working at home when the power went off. So frustrating to lose your power for someone having a home-based business.

2008-02-14 7:25 PM 2.5 hours 1210 Bellevue Ave #302
Comments:

2008-02-14 7:30pm 1.5 hours ongoing 1404 Edgehill Drive
Comments: Seems like us to a few blocks south, however our neighbors to the north have power. Weird.

2008-02-14 11.00 AM & PM 2 mins. each 709 Walnut nAve.
Comments: I was working at my desk & all of a sudden the computer went out for approx. a min.& then it flipped back on. Tonite when I came in around 6:20 I noticed all the electronics flashing & I guess there wss a 2nd. outage. What is going on with our power station????Stupid!!!

2008-02-04 12:23 pm 1 hour 409 Concord Way
Comments: I was in the shower when the power went off. We have an instant hot water heater so the water went cold within about a minute. I was getting ready to go to an appointment. Computer, which has a battery backup, shut off before I could turn it off. Not a good thing for Linux. We\'re guessing at the time of outage. Power was still out when I left but my wife reports that it was back on when she returned at 3pm.

2008-02-04 12:23 44 minutes 1178 Broadway
Comments: On a clear, sunny, cool day following a week of heavy rains, the power went out on the north side of Broadway. We had visits in the shop from neighboring restaurateurs, wondering how long the lights would be off, since they\'re in the middle of a business-person\'s lunch period...The lights at the California Drive/Broadway intersection, of course, are impacted. We cannot make any credit card sales during this time and must re-set all the computers...

2008-01-27 About 4:15 a.m. Unknown 2337 Poppy Drive
Comments: Woke up to blinking clocks. Power went out and was restored during the night.

2008-01-27 appx. 2:00 am appx. 2 hours 1548 Vancouver Avenue
Comments: Since this occurred in the early hours of the morning, don\'t know the exact time. However, there was no rain at the time (moon was shining) and although windy, not enough to warrant this outage in my estimation

2008-01-27 1:50am almost 3 hours 2331 poppy drive
Comments: I called PGE right away, and recording said they knew about the outage. Power came back at 4:43am. This is particularily problematic for us, as the house has flooded before due to the sump pumps not working. We do have a portable battery back up, but someone needs to plug it in. Luckily I woke up right away, since a three hour outage would have the pump overflowing. I would imagine that not to many folks are awake in those wee hours of the morning.

2008-01-27 2:00am 1.5 hours 1531 Vancouver ave
Comments:

2008-01-27 7:50pm Momentary 105 Crescent
Comments: Lights flickered a few times; Computers reset;

2008-01-27 2:00 am 1433 bernal ave
Comments:

2008-01-27 8:30 PM 1 hour 100 Pepper Avenue
Comments: THis was the second outage this month. On 1/4 it went out before going to work for a short time. When I came home that evening I could tell by the clocks that it had been out over 4 hours that day.

2008-01-27 1:50ish A.M. about 3 hours 1479 El Camino Real
Comments: no idea why the power went out, no storm, nothing obvious. I called PG&E as soon as it happened. It took a pretty good amount of time for them to get a truck down here. It still took quite a while to fix it after the truck came. I\'d like to know what caused it.

2008-01-24 10:00am 3 hour 1332 El camino Real
Comments: Not sure if this is an isolated situation; Both two buildings have NO power for at least 3 hours but it appears that neighbors have power. Property owner on site, trying to solve issue.

2008-01-11 5:30 a.m. 3 hours 1499 Oak Grove Ave.
Comments: Crews gave a very quick response. We were very lucky compared with a lot of people.

2008-01-08 8:20am still ongoing 4631 Doyle Road, San Jose
Comments: No power in whole home

2008-01-05 7am 64 1/2 hours 416 Bayswater Ave.
Comments: The most frustrating part was that it seemed like NONE of my calls were logged and I was constantly told that I was the only one in the neighborhood that was calling. I was never given a time that a crew would be on site and I was told that we were only 24 customers and a low priority. I even had calls that my power had been turned back on when I was still sitting with no heat or power.

2008-01-04 08:00 unknow 2613 Martinez Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010
Comments: Weather - still out as of 01042008 2:00 p.m

2008-01-04 8:30 am 2 hours 728 Crossway Road
Comments:

2008-01-04 7am, 7:40, 8:15, 9am seconds to 20 minutes 1133 Douglas Ave
Comments: Heavy weather and the power stayed on all night, but we had a number of outages starting at 7 in the morning. We expect outages in such severe weather, given that service has often been problematic during calm weather.

2008-01-04 9 am 8 hours 13806 Highland Drive, Grass Valley, CA 95945
Comments: This means we have no heating either, as we have no fireplace.

2008-01-04 8:00 am, 9:15 am, 10:00, 11:00 1-2 minutes each 139 Primrose Road, Burlingame, CA 94010
Comments: Numerous outages all morning long, most lasting only a few minutes.

2008-01-04 6:30 AM 4 plus hours 709 Walnut Ave.
Comments: Here we go again. Just a week ago the power went out for about 12 minutes. So much for PGE's promises.

2008-01-04 6:45am continuing at 4 hours 748 Walnut Avenue
Comments: There is a major storm. Reporting outage so there is a record of the poor service on Walnut Avenue

2008-01-04 6:45am 3hours30 min so far 1404 Edgehill Drive
Comments: Heavy storm. Just the same, Burlingame Terrace is *always* the worst effected neighborhood we've ever seen on the peninsula. Everyone else seems to have power.

2008-01-04 6:45 am More than 4 hours so far 774 Walnut Ave.
Comments:

2008-01-04 8:57am 4 hours 5mins 105 Crescent Avenue
Comments: No Internet, no power, no heat. Unable to work this morning. What a waste.

2008-01-04 8:15 a.m. 54 1/2 hours 1125 Cambridge Road
Comments: Black out caused by high winds from the recent storm, causing the service wire to break. It affected the whole of Cambridge as well as the south side of Oxford. Although the black out was reported promptly, it took PG&E over 2 days to restore our power.

2008-01-04 9am 35 hours 1473 Benito Ave
Comments: Terry: We are am very frustrated. There are four houses on Benito Avenue (mine included) that are not on the new power grid. Most storms effects us. This last outage was terrible we were without power for almost two days. I have asked the other four neighbors to email you as well. Thank you, Steven Hurwitz

2008-01-04 10:00 am 32 hours 1481 Benito Avenue
Comments: We are a family of four (two kids: age 4 and 8 months!) that spent two days and one cold night at home with our power out. Our neighbors across the street all had power. Having a young baby made this a very difficult time.

2008-01-04 6:30 AM 1 hr.+ 966 Chula Vista Avenue
Comments:

2008-01-04 7:30 am 5 hours 1745 Escalante Way
Comments:

2008-01-04 6am 4 days 1228 Cabrillo Ave
Comments: We had no power on Friday the 4th in the morning, then partial power for most the day, but NO power again in the evening and for the next 3 days. WE were told we were a low priority. 6 houses on our street were w/out power. 3 alarm clocks wer burnt out, and our gargae door electric motor. We are still having problems w/fuses blowing. PGE only called us once before finally coming out-- even tho they said they would give regular updates. I still have not resolved the damaged equipment issue with them.

2008-01-04 10 am (approx) 65 hours 118 Dwight
Comments: A tree fell down on a transformer on the street and there were multiple downed lines. We have an 8 month old and a 2 year old and were without power and heat so we had to go to a hotel for two nights. My perception of the situation was that there was no consensus among the folks at PG&E whether our outage had been reported and when it would be addressed - seems like there is a need for better collaborative tools for field service personnel during times like these.

2008-01-04 8:10 AM 4 DAYS 1341 Paloma Ave
Comments: We lost power to about a dozen homes in our neighborhood on Friday morning. Power was not restored until Monday afternoon. The outage was caused by a fallen tree limb. The worst part of the whole ordeal was not being able to get accurate estimates from PG&E regarding restoration of power. We were unable to make plans accordingly.

2007-29-12 0650 20min 774 Walnut Avenue
Comments: Generator worked fine.

2007-22-12 6:30am 1 hour, 15 min 748 Walnut
Comments: Did not report to PGE as power went out while asleep and came back on in a little over 1 hour

2007-11-11 8:52am 1 minute 1178 Broadway
Comments: Lost computer data...have to reset all sorts of appliances. It's a sunny morning, no wind, no rain, but we've been impacted by a power outage. Our main phone line was "dead" for several minutes, too, curiously.

2007-09-30 7:15?am not sure 1133 Douglas Ave
Comments: I do not know precisely how long the power was out or if we had merely a small glitch ...but at approximately 7:15 on this Sunday morning (clear weather), the appliances came back on.

2007-08-18 6:30 pm 2/ hours approx 709 Walnut ave
Comments: the same old nonsense again.Lovely day outside-justg sat down to lk. at news.-and BAM-no electricity. ridiculous!

2007-08-17 7:00pm 90 minutes 748 Walnut
Comments: Understand that this was a large scale outage impacting about 1,000 customers

2007-07-21 08:52 5 minutes 1178 Broadway
Comments: The weather conditions were fine this morning when PG&E lost power for about 116 \"residents\" or customers. There was a PG&E truck and technician working on Laguna & Broadway...he worked on several power poles and I\'m supposing he was doing preventative maintenance? But something unexpected must have happened and the lights went out in the immediate area. Someone told me they were unable to pump fuel at the gas station down the block, so they (I\'m guessing) came into Weimax to \"fuel\" up with a shot of vodka...In any case, mighty inconvenient to lose power and have to re-boot computers, etc. Weather was not a factor in this morning\'s outage. The PG&E phone person took down the information and offered to call me with a \"status report.\" We did not need such a report, since (believe it or not), we are sufficiently intelligent to determine that the lights are, indeed, back on.

2007-06-24 approx. 6:15 to 7:45 an hour and a half 1516 Drake Ave
Comments: just wanted to inform you of the outage. Not too much impact as it was a Sunday morning. Also lost 2 tree limbs in the wind.

2007-05-24 8:10pm <1 minute North Carolan
Comments: Interupted Safeway study group meeting.

2007-04-08 6:30 pm approx 20 - 25 mins. 709 Walnut Ave
Comments: Came home 6:25-grqge door would not open-thot might be doo4r opener-went in thru front door 7 tho9t will try lites-AND NOTHING AGAIN. Stove & other lites blinking. This is unacceptable--PGE CO8ULDN\'T CARE LESS!!q

2007-04-08 6:40pm 15 minutes 748 Walnut Avenue
Comments: It was only 15 minutes but it is good to maintain this log as accurately as possible for PG&E

2007-02-26 1 hour, 36 min Easton Drive

2007-02-18 8:00 p.m. at least 4 hours 1033 Shoal Drive, San Mateo, CA 94404
Comments: The lights came on twice for maybe 10 minutes during the outage. I don\'t know if you want to know about San Mateo but Marcia Parish said it might be more info for you.

2007-02-12 10 t0 15 mins. 709 Walnut Ave.
Comments: Left yesterday around 1 PM & returned this PM around 5 PM & found the lites blinking on the stove & found the lites had gone out while I was gone. Don\'t know at what time it happened but this just can\'t go on!!!

2007-02-12 3:36 a.m. 30-35 minutes Willborough Road
Comments: (from my neighbor) PG&E said power would be restored at 6am; good thing it came back on earlier since my requested wakeup call from PG&E was 25 minutes late and I would have missed my train.

2007-01-20 12 noon 7-1/2 hours 1205 Broadway
Comments: This is a serious problem! We had 150 dinner reservations and had to rent a generator.

2007-01-20 12 noon 7.5 hours 1201 Broadway
Comments: All businesses on the south side of Broadway between Paloma and Laguna were without power for 7.5 hours. Not acceptable!

2007-01-12 appx. 6:00 p.m. unknown Burlingame Century Theater - Old Bayshore
Comments: Were watching the movie, \"The Queen\" and approximately three quarters of the way through, theater lost electrical power. We were told it was a PG&E problem and likely to last quite a while and they therefore evacuated the theater. It appeared that everything south of the theater, on that side of the street, was also dark. Lights were on across the street and everywhere else.

2006-12-29 11:47a 4 hours, 13 min 2835 Hillside Drive
Comments: Cold house, cooked lunch with camp stove, could not park car in garage.

2006-12-29 Not sure 774 Walnut Ave.
Comments: After 10 years of this nonsense, we are having an automatic standby generator installed!

2006-12-29 6:15a 30 sec 2835 Hillside Drive
Comments: Reset appliances

2006-12-29 not sure forgot to note 709 walnut
Comments: This insanity goes on & on. How long? I think we shoulkd get together & report PGE to Channels 4, 5, & 7!

2006-12-28 6:24pm 3 to 5 minutes 1178 Broadway
Comments: Though the weather at the time here on the Peninsula was not hugely windy or rainy (at that time), the power suddenly went out and remained out for about three to five minutes. We had lost power earlier in the day, by the way, for less than a minute...around mid-day.

2006-12-27 10:30 a.m. About 15 hours 792 Willborough Road
Comments: Very inconvenient! Had to go out to eat to get warm.

2006-12-27 10:30am 15 min 807 Acacia Ave
Comments: Third of three outages today. first two were momentary, this one is, so far, 15 minutes and counting. We\'re getting cold!

2006-12-27 12+ hours 774 Walnut Ave.
Comments:

2006-12-27 12 plus hrs 709 walnut
Comments: This goes on & on! Discusting!

2006-12-24 12:35 p.m. a few seconds 409 Concord Way
Comments: We experienced a momentary outage of a few seconds on 12/24 at 12:35 p.m.

2006-12-24 12:30 p.m. Not sure Willborough Road
Comments: I left about 1:15 p.m. and power was still out, returned at 8 p.m. and it was back on. In my first year of living on Willborough, I lost power more times than in the 10+ years of living on Floribunda!

2006-12-18 1:01 pm 10 seconds 409 CONCORD WAY
Comments: momentary outage. Fortunately, computer is on a UPS.

Comments:

2006-09-01 4:48pm 3-4 minutes 1178 Broadway
Comments: On a lovely sunny, summer afternoon, the power went out for several minutes. A call to PG&E was of little illumination (what a surprise that they're "in the dark" about this). The rep said nothing had been noted on their system and "the power can go out for a variety of reasons. The outage is not simply weather-related." When queried as to possible causes, the rep had no clue. This is the second outage within the past few days. Computers routinely need re-booting and customers are inconvenienced by these interuptions.

2006-09-01 4:55 pm unknown 409 Concord Way
Comments:

2006-09-01 445 PM Howard Ave
Comments: Power went off just as we were headed out the door, was restored by the time we got home. 2nd time this week.

2006-08-30 1:45pm 10 min 409 CONCORD WAY
Comments:

2006-08-30 around mid-day 30-40 minutes, perhaps 1178 Broadway, 136 Bloomfield, 1133 Douglas Ave
Comments: Lost power at several locations. In the shop we had major trouble getting the credit card terminal back on line. Lost a few sales as a result of this outage. Nice, warm, clear, summer day here, but perhaps Hurrican Ernesto affected PG&E's sensitive electrical system?

2006-07-20 7:25 a.m. 10 seconds 2337 Poppy Drive
Comments: Had to reset all the clocks and was late to appointment next morning because forgot to reset alarm.

2006-07-05 9:25 am 30 sec 409 CONCORD WAY
Comments: Lost work that was open on my computer.

2006-07-05 9:20am 1 minute 1178 Broadway
Comments: On a clear, non-windy summer morning, the power went out for about one minute...needed to re-boot the computers, etc. The phone system went dead, mid-call, making the customer think I hung up on them.

2006-06-17 9:20am 1 minute 1178 Broadway
Comments: On a bright, hot, sunny Saturday morning, the power went out for about 20 seconds, came back on briefly and then was out, again, for another 20-30 seconds. We had to re-set the computer, etc.

2006-05-27 afternoon 3 times of ten mins. 209 Victoria Rd.
Comments: Power went off in mid-afternoon for about 10 mins; back on for about 2 mins.; off again for about 10 mins.; back on; off again; finally back on to stay. Weather was sunny, slight wind, no rain!????

2006-05-18 10:45 a.m. 2 hours, 34 min. 1702 Sequoia
Comments: Clear, sunny day. No reason for outage obvious.

2006-05-17 8:20pm less than a minute 1178 Broadway
Comments: We were in the midst of a wine tasting with 16 people and, on this warm, balmy, non-windy, non-rainy, summer-like evening, suddenly the electricity went out, darkening the store. Everyone was curious as to why and how this could happen. I explained that PG&E's service is far from perfect on this circuit. We had to reboot the computers in order to get everything up and running again.

2006-05-17 10:45 a.m. 2 hrs., 34 min. 1702 Sequoia
Comments: Bright, sunny day. No obvious reason for outage.

2006-05-02 8.38PM 30 MINUTES 709 WALNUT AVE.
Comments: WALKED IN AFTER A DINNER OUT AND COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES WITH THE CLOCKS ALL BLINKING -ANOTHER OUTAGE ON A WONDERFUL BRITE, SUNNY DAY IN BURL. NO REASON FOR SAME. STUPID,STUPID,PGE!!! .

2006-04-20 4.43 PM 2 mins 709 Walnut Ave.
Comments: don't know what is going on! So short & quick and SUNNY, SUNNY,no interference of anything..

2006-04-19 10:45, 11:10, 12:45 flashes 1178 Broadway
Comments: We've been experiencing numerous "flashes" today. There were three short ones around 10:45 this morning. Another momentary "flash" occurred at about 11:10 and one a moment ago at 12:46.

2006-04-18 4.33 pm 1/2 hr 709 Walnut Ave.
Comments: Why did thid happen on a perfectly sunny day? Cannot imagine their newest excuse!

2006-03-08 7:12 pm 22 hrs. 709 Walnut Ave.
Comments: Impact? No dinner, no lites,no heat, no anything. And the people fielding the questions have NO IDEA about what's going on, how long, why, etc. but promised to call back when they knew something and when electricity would go back on. I am still waiting for that call. However she did state it was affecting about 300 homes - SAME AS ALWAYS. They - PGE just can't seem to understand & fix the problem or they are just too DUMB to solve it, or THEY JUST DON"T CARE. God help us if anything really bad happens!

2006-03-01 6:22 pm 10 hours 1450 Columbus Ave
Comments: Used my cell phone to report outage. The outage interrupted cooking diner. Forced us to go out to eat diner. Daoghter did her homework by candle like, much like President Abe Lincoln.

2006-02-27 7:00 pm 4 hours 100 Pepper Avenue
Comments: This has happened several times in the past few years. Our power comes in from Barroilhet and the power was out only on Barroilhet from our house east to El Camino, but the homes on Pepper and Occidental were unaffected. Strange.

2006-02-27 7:10pm ongoing 748 Walnut Avenue
Comments: This is probably the fourth outage this winter and the second one that appears to be an overnight affair. I know that BULB has noted that Walnut Ave. is a problem but it does not appear we are making any progress. While it is clear that this is a major storm for PG&E, I remain most disappointed in their customer service response. I called for three hours before I received any recorded message regarding PG&E's response. I finally received a message that they will have an update at 10:00am tomorrow morning. The implication of this is that it is going to take at least 15 hours for PG&E to figure out when they can restore power. I expect better service. It is interesting that I am able to send this using my laptop and a telephone landline modem. I do not understand why AT&T/SBC lines never have troubles during a storm while PG&E's have numerous problems.

2006-02-27 7:15 pm 6 hours 1037 Cortez
Comments: Not too sure when power came back on as I was half asleep when I noticed hallway light came on. Was groggy but think it was 12:45 am.

2006-02-27 7pm 14 hours 45 minutes 1178 Broadway
Comments: As a mild storm rolled into the Bay Area, the lights flickered several times before finally going out. We closed the shop and attempted to go home. The police blocked off Laguna to Rhinette, as they thought the cable on the street was a power line. *** A Burlingame Police Officer said I could not drive out onto the street due to the wire on the ground. He directed me to "walk out." I said I'd prefer to wait in the car until the road was safe. (In fact, the next day a PG&E technician said it would have been safer to drive onto the street and out of harm's way than to set foot on wet ground with a potential live wire.) *** The PG&E telephone recording on Tuesday morning indicated power would be restored between 11am and 1pm. I walked down to where there was a tree crew and several PG&E trucks were parked, all spectators. The PG&E supervisor said the power would be on in 30 minutes (this at 8:20am). I suppose the actual re-stringing of the wire was not especially complicated. The main issue was simply removing the branches of the tree. *** The tree in front of 1241 Laguna had numerous branches growing through the electrical and other wires. I suppose once these branches were removed, PG&E techs were able to re-string the wiring. *** The power came back on at 9:45 and we opened the shop about an hour later than hours posted. *** Aside from our personal inconvenience, the MAJOR PROBLEM is the traffic lights at California Drive and Broadway. These were not functioning during the morning commute hours. *** As usual, the lights on the south side of the street remained illuminated.

2006-02-27 7:00 pm 4 hours 100 Pepper Avenue
Comments: I found out yesterday that this outage was caused by the line actually breaking, not from a tree coming down, but breaking by itself in the wind. This was just west of El Camino on Barroilhet.

2006-01-24 9:15 am 5-10 seconds 501 Primrose Road
Comments: Since the outage was only seconds long, there was very little impact.

Comments: Power was out in the area by City Hall and California Drive...

2005-12-31 6:00 am 1 hour 1112 Edgehill Drive
Comments: Outages in this area have been caused by wind blown palm fronds which short the power lines. The palms in this area are very tall. The City should consider trimming the trees or removing them altogether.

2005-12-31 11:30 am est. 24-26 hours to restore service 411 Primrose Road
Comments: Power has been out all day on Saturday. PG&E estimates that the power will be restored sometime on Sunday. The 24 hour outage is totally unacceptable; buildings surrounding this area are with full power.

2005-12-30 3:00 am 48 hrs 1304 Bernal Ave.
Comments: Eucalyptus branch caused wires to be pulled from pole and house. PGE said they would be there to repair Sun. 1-3 pm. No show. Next said Sun. 6-9 pm. No show. I called and complained and talked to supervisor and asked how the priorities were being set. I told them I was only 1 house without electricity and felt they were passing me by when the repair was not a long one (in my opinion). This same problem happens often with storms. They said 11 am the next day Mon., but did come to repair at 3 am Mon.

2005-12-20 noon 1-2 hours 1702 Sequoia Ave., Apt. 3
Comments: I called PGE; received a recorded msg advising me that they were aware of outage and that power would be back up in 1-2 hours. They were correct; power was restored as they said.

2005-12-01 3:40, or so flickering outage 1178 Broadway
Comments: Flickering outage...twice within a minute...power came back on...had to re-boot computers.

2005-12-01 11:30am nearly 2 hours 1178 broadway
Comments: During a storm, the power went out for a few hours. PG&E was called after about an hour and the operator had no idea if this was an isolated outage or was area-wide. She said she would set us up to receive a call informing us of the prospective duration of outage...never did get this call.

2005-12-01 3 am or so... brief 136 Bloomfield Rd
Comments: Momentary 'flash' outage...needed to reset appliances. Arriving at the shop at 1178 Broadway...the computers were all catty-wompous (technical term) and needed re-booting.

2005-12-01 12:30pm 10 hours & counting 748 Walnut
Comments: This outage and PG&E's response is similar to our experiences in 2003 and prior. When the power went out the automated telephone system said it swould be back in 1 to 4 hours. After 6 hours when we called for an update, we received a live operator who said the outage was never reported. About one hour ago, a PG&E truck showed up in the neighborhood and started looking at the power lines. The telephone line now says the outage is due to equipment failure and should be repaired in 1 to 3 hours. I am very frustrated with PG&E's inability to give a consistent response. It seems like they make it up as they go a long. I have to go now before the laptop runs out of battery power. Hopefully we will have power in the morning. Pkease put the appropriate pressure on PG&E so this does not hapeen again. A power outage of this length is inexcusable. Thanks, Marc

Comments: Lost important e-mail communication. Had to re-boot the computers in the shop, delaying customers... Constant trouble. Why can't PG&E buy the sort of equipment to withstand winds that they use in other parts of the country?

2005-12-01 11:20am hours Burlingame Public Library 480 Primrose
Comments: The Burlingame Public Library is on the "old" circuit which routinely goes out of service when there's a breeze or a bit of rain. **** The library officials contacted PG&E immediately after the lights went out...they have back up lighting and power units which will provide electricity for perhaps an hour. PG&E blamed the outage on a transformer on Linden Avenue which had "exploded." PG&E informed library officials they had "no idea" as to when the power would be restored. Armed with that information, the library director sent staffers home, since there is little productivity to be had in such conditions. Library Services Manager Pat Harding said she came back at 4:45 and the lights were, surprisingly, on! But they went out again shortly thereafter, making for a totally frustrating day. She also said there are parts of the building which are quite dark during an outage, making it unsafe to walk around. The heating and ventilation system requires electricity and Ms. Harding noted the air gets "quite stuffy" when the HVAC units are not functioning. ***** Having good, reliable information available would surely aid people like our library staffers, not to mention Burlingame business people in dealing with the frequent outages experienced on this old and unreliable circuit.

2005-10-02 12:58pm 2 min 409 CONCORD WAY
Comments: Weather is beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky. No wind to speak of. Power went off for a couple of minutes. I was editing and lost about 20 minutes worth of work (program does not back up). I plan to file a complaint with PG&E to be compensated for that lost work.
