| june 15, 2010 | 12:15PM | 47 Mins per PGE | 709 Walnut Ave. |
| Comments: | No reason at all for this again the same day and in this weather. And worst of all PGE knew nothing yesterday, said it was only my address and was sending someone out in PM to ck. it. I asked for complete details and was promised I would hear from someone today giving me all the details, and after the phone conversation today with 2 PGE employees I understand why our electricity goes out so often!!!!! |

|
| May 22, 2010 | afternoon, three at least | total of about 10 minutes | 216 Bancroft Road |
| Comments: | I came home early afternoon and found that the power had been off and then restored as many items were flashing. Then as I was resetting clocks, timers etc. power went off again. I went out again only to return to flashing. So, power was out at least three time and maybe more. |

| Unknown - likely early May | Unknown | Unknown | 16 Lorton Avenue #4, Burlingame, CA 94010 |
| Comments: | Power outages have been common in my unit and my neighbors' units (I own a townhouse in a 6-townhouse complex) for a few years now. Most recently, I was away briefly and on coming back May 10, noticed that I had to reset all my clocks, microwave, etc. I reported this to PG&E May 14 and they sent out a person to look at our lines. This person asked my neighbors outside my complex if they were having issues and supposedly, they said no. He told me he would tell me if there was an issue with our outer lines vs. our complex's electrical circuits but I didn't get a reply other than an automated messaged "your power has been restored." I tried calling PG&E today and am awaiting a report on what their exam showed.
Of note, this information about outages needs to be relayed to the community more. I did not know this was a community-wide issue until I picked up the local paper this Sunday. |

| 5/1/10 | early evening | 2 weeks - partial outage | 1125 Drake Ave |
| Comments: | I've been in a dispute with P&GE over this outage for 2 weeks now. The technician told me that he would have someone come out and trim the tree and now they're telling me that I need to do it and that they won't fix the problem until I have the tree done. They've been extremely unhelpful and rude on the phone with me. |

| 10-May-2010 | ~noon | 5-10 seconds | 1070 Carolan Ave. |
| Comments: | I had two computers running jobs, and the power outage shut both computers down. I was concerned that the abrupt shutdown during execution would cause a loss of data and/or corruption of open files. Fortunately it did not. |

| May 1, 2010 | 6 or so in the morning | Nearly 2 hours | 1178 Broadway Burlingame |
| Comments: | The burglar alarm company called at 6:04 to inform me the shop was without power and the alarm was working on battery power.
I called PG&E and they estimated power would be restored at 8:45. It came on around 7:40.
A stop on the way to work at The Cakery on Burlingame Ave. found a decided lack of back goods thanks to the outage.
I spent 15 minutes restoring our computers to normal working condition.
PG&E called me around 8:10 to tell me the lights were on, about 30 minutes after our power had come back on.
I spoke with a service rep who said they still expected power to come on at 8:45.
He did indicate the cause is being blamed on a transformer.
I asked what happened...he did not know and guessed it might have been "old or damaged, but it shouldn't have been a weather-related cause."
The fellow at the bakery indicated he has commercial accounts who buy his products and the numerous, frequent outages are jeopardizing his business.
Please, PG&E, why can't you provide as reliable service on this circuit as you do on the other side of the street??? |
| |
|
| May 1, 2010 | 6am | 1 hour 45-2 hours | 1133 Douglas Ave |
| Comments: | On a clear, wind-less morning, the power service experienced an interruption.
I called PG&E and waited 15 minutes to speak with a rep who had only the number of customers who were without electrical service. It's very reassuring to know more than 7,000 others are in the dark, too.

|
| April 2, 2010 | 7:05am | 1 hour 50 minutes | 1178 Broadway |
| Comments: | On a dry, gray morning, with no breeze and no unusual weather conditions, the lights went out (second time this week).
I called PG&E and after a ten minute wait, the service rep could only indicate that 7500 customers were impacted by the outage. I was told the problem was due to a traffic accident on Highway 101.
I inquired as to when the electricity would be restored and the fellow said he did not know.
I remarked that calling to ask about outages seemed "useless."
The rep replied "I don't need your derogatory remarks this morning."
He did ask if I wanted them to call when the power was back on, but I explained that though I am presently "in the dark, I do possess sufficient intelligence to note when the lights have come back on."
Around 8:35, another call to PG&E met with slightly more information...the problem was caused "by a bird which flew into a transformer" and "the lights should come back on around 10am."
The lights came on shortly before 9 and we reset all the computers in the building and started our day, roughly 2 hours behind in terms of productivity.

| 3/29/10 | 7:55 a.m. | 20 to 53 minutes | Burlingame Avenue area |
| Comments: | A total of 7,511 customers lost power. The cause: an open circuit breaker at the Bay Meadows 2101 substation at Highways 101 and 92. Reported the outage to PGE...they had no idea of an outage. A few minutes after the power was restored, PG&E phoned to say the power was back on.

| Comments: | Lights/power went out for a moment...needed to re-set the computers. Curiously, a CD player, which was turned off days ago (and has not been turned on since) was actually ON when the power came back!
The weather on this Thursday morning is dry, a big humid and 'tropical.' No rain and the wind is calm to non-existent. |

PG&E said just "our area", blamed trees on Carmelita, he said City should be taking care of trimming trees around power lines, not PG&E |

| 2008-09-05 | 6:42 pm | 10-25 seconds | 1178 Broadway |
| Comments: | As reports of Hurricane Ike are reported on the front page of the newspaper, we were basking in beautiful September weather here in Burlingame. On a sunny, calm day, we (and the 6 or 8 customers in our shop) were startled when the lights flashed off and on and then off for about 10-20 seconds. It is difficult to explain to people, especially folks unfamiliar with PG&E's spotty performance here in town, precisely why the power goes out.

| Comments: | I was in the shower when the power went off. We have an instant hot water heater so the water went cold within about a minute. I was getting ready to go to an appointment.
Computer, which has a battery backup, shut off before I could turn it off. Not a good thing for Linux.
We're guessing at the time of outage. Power was still out when I left but my wife reports that it was back on when she returned at 3pm. |

| Comments: | no idea why the power went out, no storm, nothing obvious. I called PG&E as soon as it happened. It took a pretty good amount of time for them to get a truck down here. It still took quite a while to fix it after the truck came. I'd like to know what caused it. |

| 2008-02-04 | 12:23 | 44 minutes | 1178 Broadway |
| Comments: | On a clear, sunny, cool day following a week of heavy rains, the power went out on the north side of Broadway. We had visits in the shop from neighboring restaurateurs, wondering how long the lights would be off, since they're in the middle of a business-person's lunch period...The lights at the California Drive/Broadway intersection, of course, are impacted.
We cannot make any credit card sales during this time and must re-set all the computers...

| Comments: | I called PGE right away, and recording said they knew about the outage. Power came back at 4:43am.
This is particularily problematic for us, as the house has flooded before due to the sump pumps not working. We do have a portable battery back up, but someone needs to plug it in. Luckily I woke up right away, since a three hour outage would have the pump overflowing. I would imagine that not to many folks are awake in those wee hours of the morning. |

| Comments: | The most frustrating part was that it seemed like NONE of my calls were logged and I was constantly told that I was the only one in the neighborhood that was calling. I was never given a time that a crew would be on site and I was told that we were only 24 customers and a low priority. I even had calls that my power had been turned back on when I was still sitting with no heat or power. |

| 2008-01-04 | 10 am (approx) | 65 hours | 118 Dwight |
| Comments: | A tree fell down on a transformer on the street and there were multiple downed lines. We have an 8 month old and a 2 year old and were without power and heat so we had to go to a hotel for two nights. My perception of the situation was that there was no consensus among the folks at PG&E whether our outage had been reported and when it would be addressed - seems like there is a need for better collaborative tools for field service personnel during times like these. |

| 2008-01-04 | 6am | 4 days | 1228 Cabrillo Ave |
| Comments: | We had no power on Friday the 4th in the morning, then partial power for most the day, but NO power again in the evening and for the next 3 days. WE were told we were a low priority. 6 houses on our street were w/out power. 3 alarm clocks wer burnt out, and our gargae door electric motor. We are still having problems w/fuses blowing. PGE only called us once before finally coming out-- even tho they said they would give regular updates. I still have not resolved the damaged equipment issue with them. |

| Comments: | We lost power to about a dozen homes in our neighborhood on Friday morning. Power was not restored until Monday afternoon. The outage was caused by a fallen tree limb. The worst part of the whole ordeal was not being able to get accurate estimates from PG&E regarding restoration of power. We were unable to make plans accordingly. |

| 2007-07-21 | 08:52 | 5 minutes | 1178 Broadway |
| Comments: | The weather conditions were fine this morning when PG&E lost power for about 116 "residents" or customers. There was a PG&E truck and technician working on Laguna & Broadway...he worked on several power poles and I'm supposing he was doing preventative maintenance? But something unexpected must have happened and the lights went out in the immediate area. Someone told me they were unable to pump fuel at the gas station down the block, so they (I'm guessing) came into Weimax to "fuel" up with a shot of vodka...In any case, mighty inconvenient to lose power and have to re-boot computers, etc. Weather was not a factor in this morning's outage.
The PG&E phone person took down the information and offered to call me with a "status report." We did not need such a report, since (believe it or not), we are sufficiently intelligent to determine that the lights are, indeed, back on.

The rep said nothing had been noted on their system and "the power can go out for a variety of reasons. The outage is not simply weather-related." When queried as to possible causes, the rep had no clue.
This is the second outage within the past few days. Computers routinely need re-booting and customers are inconvenienced by these interuptions. |

| 2006-02-27 | 7pm | 14 hours 45 minutes | 1178 Broadway |
| Comments: | As a mild storm rolled into the Bay Area, the lights flickered several times before finally going out. We closed the shop and attempted to go home. The police blocked off Laguna to Rhinette, as they thought the cable on the street was a power line.
***
A Burlingame Police Officer said I could not drive out onto the street due to the wire on the ground. He directed me to "walk out." I said I'd prefer to wait in the car until the road was safe. (In fact, the next day a PG&E technician said it would have been safer to drive onto the street and out of harm's way than to set foot on wet ground with a potential live wire.)
***
The PG&E telephone recording on Tuesday morning indicated power would be restored between 11am and 1pm.
I walked down to where there was a tree crew and several PG&E trucks were parked, all spectators. The PG&E supervisor said the power would be on in 30 minutes (this at 8:20am). I suppose the actual re-stringing of the wire was not especially complicated. The main issue was simply removing the branches of the tree.

The tree in front of 1241 Laguna had numerous branches growing through the electrical and other wires. I suppose once these branches were removed, PG&E techs were able to re-string the wiring.
***
The power came back on at 9:45 and we opened the shop about an hour later than hours posted.
***
Aside from our personal inconvenience, the MAJOR PROBLEM is the traffic lights at California Drive and Broadway. These were not functioning during the morning commute hours.
***
As usual, the lights on the south side of the street remained illuminated. |

| Comments: | This has happened several times in the past few years. Our power comes in from Barroilhet and the power was out only on Barroilhet from our house east to El Camino, but the homes on Pepper and Occidental were unaffected. Strange. |

| Comments: | This is probably the fourth outage this winter and the second one that appears to be an overnight affair. I know that BULB has noted that Walnut Ave. is a problem but it does not appear we are making any progress.
While it is clear that this is a major storm for PG&E, I remain most disappointed in their customer service response. I called for three hours before I received any recorded message regarding PG&E's response. I finally received a message that they will have an update at 10:00am tomorrow morning. The implication of this is that it is going to take at least 15 hours for PG&E to figure out when they can restore power. I expect better service.
It is interesting that I am able to send this using my laptop and a telephone landline modem. I do not understand why AT&T/SBC lines never have troubles during a storm while PG&E's have numerous problems. |

PGE said they would be there to repair Sun. 1-3 pm. No show. Next said Sun. 6-9 pm. No show.
I called and complained and talked to supervisor and asked how the priorities were being set. I told them I was only 1 house without electricity and felt they were passing me by when the repair was not a long one (in my opinion). This same problem happens often with storms.
They said 11 am the next day Mon., but did come to repair at 3 am Mon. |

| Comments: | Outages in this area have been caused by wind blown palm fronds which short the power lines. The palms in this area are very tall. The City should consider trimming the trees or removing them altogether. |

| Comments: | The Burlingame Public Library is on the "old" circuit which routinely goes out of service when there's a breeze or a bit of rain.
****
The library officials contacted PG&E immediately after the lights went out...they have back up lighting and power units which will provide electricity for perhaps an hour.
PG&E blamed the outage on a transformer on Linden Avenue which had "exploded." PG&E informed library officials they had "no idea" as to when the power would be restored.
Armed with that information, the library director sent staffers home, since there is little productivity to be had in such conditions.
Library Services Manager Pat Harding said she came back at 4:45 and the lights were, surprisingly, on! But they went out again shortly thereafter, making for a totally frustrating day.
She also said there are parts of the building which are quite dark during an outage, making it unsafe to walk around. The heating and ventilation system requires electricity and Ms. Harding noted the air gets "quite stuffy" when the HVAC units are not functioning.
*****
Having good, reliable information available would surely aid people like our library staffers, not to mention Burlingame business people in dealing with the frequent outages experienced on this old and unreliable circuit. |

| Comments: | This outage and PG&E's response is similar to our experiences in 2003 and prior. When the power went out the automated telephone system said it swould be back in 1 to 4 hours. After 6 hours when we called for an update, we received a live operator who said the outage was never reported. About one hour ago, a PG&E truck showed up in the neighborhood and started looking at the power lines. The telephone line now says the outage is due to equipment failure and should be repaired in 1 to 3 hours. I am very frustrated with PG&E's inability to give a consistent response. It seems like they make it up as they go a long. I have to go now before the laptop runs out of battery power. Hopefully we will have power in the morning. Pkease put the appropriate pressure on PG&E so this does not hapeen again. A power outage of this length is inexcusable.
Thanks,
Marc |

Constant trouble.
Why can't PG&E buy the sort of equipment to withstand winds that they use in other parts of the country? |

| Comments: | During a storm, the power went out for a few hours. PG&E was called after about an hour and the operator had no idea if this was an isolated outage or was area-wide. She said she would set us up to receive a call informing us of the prospective duration of outage...never did get this call.
