Dear Friend;
Election Day is almost here! Be sure to vote for Terry on Tuesday, November 4, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Volunteers will be meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, at Terry's house at 2337 Poppy Drive in Burlingame for precinct walking and other assignments. No need to RSVP; just come!
THIS WEEK'S NEWS:
-
Terry has been endorsed by three local newspapers: the San Mateo County Times, the Burlingame Daily News and the San Mateo Daily Journal. To read the editorials, go to www.terrynagel.com and check under "Latest News."
- Debate airs nightly on cable TV. Comcast is airing a tape of the recent
candidates' debate sponsored by the San Mateo County Times every night through
Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. on Channel 27. If you have friends who are undecided about
whom to vote for, suggest that they tune in.
- The hit pieces arrive! Incumbents Mike Coffey and Mary Janney are setting a new city record for the number of expensive mailers they are sending voters. Their campaign literature and newspaper ads include many falsehoods. To separate fact from fiction, see this post by former Planning Commissioner Jerry Deal on the Burlingame Voice's blog: http://www.burlingamevoice.com/blog/index.php?p=64&more=1&c=1
- Former trustee defends Terry's record on schools. A letter by former Burlingame School District Trustee Lisa Rosenthal in the Oct. 31 issue of the Daily News clarifies that Terry has been an active supporter of local schools. To read her letter, click here: http://www.terrynagel.com
- Terry's views on the Bayfront, Peninsula Hospital and chain stores are now posted on her Web site at www.terrynagel.com
- Terry posts information on SmartVoter.org. For more information about Terry's background and her opinions on city issues, see her page on SmartVoter.org at http://www.smartvoter.org/2003/11/04/ca/sm/vote/nagel_t/
ELECTION FACTS
If you're not certain about where your polling place is located, SmartVoter.org can help. Go to www.smartvoter.org and use the "Find My Ballot" feature on the righthand side.
On Election Night, you can keep track of the ballots as they are counted on SmartVoter.org.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Some absentee ballots have gone astray in San Mateo County. If you were supposed to receive one and haven't yet, you can call the county Elections Office at (650) 312-5222. If there is any question about whether your absentee ballot has been received, you can go to any Burlingame polling place and fill out a "provisional ballot" that will be counted only in the event that your absentee ballot is not found.
Absentee ballots must be received by the Elections Office no later than 8p.m. on Election Day. You can deliver your ballot to 40 Tower Road in San Mateo or drop it at any Burlingame polling place.
If you did not apply for an absentee ballot but find that you will be out of town on Election Day, you may vote in person at the Elections Office at
40 Tower Road in San Mateo.
