LATEST NEWS:

• An opinion piece in today's Daily Journal criticizes the incumbents for dirty campaign tactics. Reporter Michelle Durand writes, "Strangely enough, the barbs and accusations aren't being waged by one of the four challengers hoping to upset Mayor Mike Coffey or Councilmember Mary Janney. • A debate between the candidates will air for the final time tonight on Burlingame's cable channel. Comcast will broadcast a tape of the recent candidates' debate sponsored by the San Mateo County Times tonight at 8 p.m. on Channel 27. Tell your friends to tune in to find out more about the candidates.
  
  
• Mike Coffey and Mary Janney have paid for automated phone calls to voters. One small problem: Mike's first call, made on Sunday, urged people to vote "tomorrow." He later made a second call apologizing for his mistake.

ELECTION FACTS

If you're not certain about where your polling place is located, SmartVoter.org can help. Go to www.smartvoter.org and use the "Find My Ballot" feature on the righthand side.

On Election Night, you can keep track of the ballots as they are counted on SmartVoter.org.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Some absentee ballots have gone astray in San Mateo County. If you were supposed to receive one and haven't yet, you can call the county Elections Office at (650) 312-5222. If there is any question about whether your absentee ballot has been received, you can go to any Burlingame polling place and fill out a "provisional ballot" that will be counted only in the event that your absentee ballot is not found.
Absentee ballots must be received by the Elections Office no later than 8p.m. on Election Day. You can deliver your ballot to 40 Tower Road in San Mateo or drop it at any Burlingame polling place.
If you did not apply for an absentee ballot but find that you will be out of town on Election Day, you may vote in person at the Elections Office at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo.
