Dear Friend;
We did it! We came in first out of all six candidates!
My sincere thanks to everyone who worked so hard on my campaign. I am extremely proud of the high level of integrity we maintained while running what proved to be a highly effective campaign. Whenever there were slings from the opponents, we took the high road. Whenever we had to choose between doing things the easy way or the right way, we took the time to do them the right way. And it paid off. Here's the vote tally:

I am indebted to all of you who contributed time and money to help get out our message. I am particularly grateful to my cochairs, Gloria Barton and Mike Spinelli; to my treasurer and data cruncher, Waldo Hinshaw; to my chief fundraiser, publicity chair and good friend Ro Logrippo; to graphic artists Peter Tucker and Rob Alviso; to Denis and Katie O'Brien, who managed my signs and "Dear Friend" cards; to Heather Mason, Angela Johnson, Kathy de Jesus and Denise Walsh, for organizing my kick-off party and coffees; to champion precinct walker Ron Mullan; and to Web designer extraordinaire Stephen Hamilton. A very special thanks to Vice Mayor Rosalie O'Mahony, who backed me early in the race, and to my family, Jim, Katie, Matt and Greg Nagel.
You can take off your blue T-shirt now and put away your campaign pin, but please don't stop caring about Burlingame. I look forward to many more conversations with you. Let's keep building on the incredible momentum that propelled us to victory and make some positive changes in our city!
